Today started with a 30 second panic when I woke up, for I had absolutely no idea where I was, who I was with or which direction I was facing. The ceiling was unfamilier, the bed was unknown, the sounds were foreign.... it was unsettling, until I remembered I was in Paris. In an apartment with Katie and Molly. On the Seine river. *pause* Oh yeah. That's right.
After a fuse-blown morning (stupid hair dryer), we met in front of the Notre Dame and ventured to the Eiffle Tower. From there, and after many, many pictures, we walked to the Fat Tire Bike Tour Company (no connection to the beer, but they had a bottle on display). We biked around Paris and saw the old military school where Neopleon graduated from Artillery school, the Peace Memorial which is being torn down in 2011 because it's the most vandalized statue in all of Paris (ironic), the church built by Louis XV and utilized by the resistance in WWII for secret meetings, Paris' war museum (from the outiside), Harmony Square (where they guillotine used to be util Nepoleon moved it outside the city, and were FASHION WEEK just ended!), the Louvre, the National Assembly building (they turned WWII bunkers into a private golf course/practice area) and then back around (saw the replicated Flame from the Statue of Liberty that the US gave to France as a peace gift and now which serves as the Princess Diana Memorial statue) to the bike shop. It was amazing! So cool, here are pictures.
After that, everyone got food at a sandwich shop where all I could have was Meringues (Vanilla, coffee, raspberry) and then Anna, Alenna and myself walked to a health food store which had gluten (sans gluten) stuff. I bought Bread, Beer, Eggs, and Pasta. I'm pretty excited about it all--especially the bread, its really good and I think would be delicious as a base for Bruscetta.
Omelets for lunch, then back to the apartments for hang out time, Anna and I walked around the Ilse de San Louis and get the famous sorbet. Pear for me, and raspberry for Anna. Then I went back to my apartment and made dinner out of VEGETABLES (people in Europe don't eat a lot of vegetables, which makes me sad!) and rice. O also had the apartment to myself for a while so I had some
Tomorrow is a lazy day to catch up on sleep, homework and some exploring, as our apartment is basically in the latin quarter! (The student section).
Au Revoir!
