Well, I have 3 papers, 4 tutorials and 9 days left in Oxford....
And I really don't want to leave.
My tutorials have been wonderful, I'm absolutely ADORING my tropical ecology one and the few I've had with Dr. Brint seem to be good too. My tropical ecology prof just told me that I have a good background knowledge and logic to my essays which he doesn't see often in Americans he teaches. In other words, I'm surpassing his expectations! HIZZAH! Don't make me leave yet, I want to learn more!!
Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to be traveling and experience all our other places but I think its going to be quite exhausting (though VERY exciting!).
This week was pretty much the same as last- I walk slowly through the week, reading, reading, reading, reading, eating, reading, sleeping... sometimes going to pubs or some other thing and then sprinting through a few days of epic adventures then back to reading and writing, preparing and reading some more. I'm getting quite good at spitting out a 3 or 4 page essay in a few hours. :)
A few different things have been dinner at Dr. Brint's house, he made Tandori chicken and curry.
Then the next night we had a "game night." All sorts of american drinking games. Lots of fun and laughs and good ol' competition. After that we went out to look for local people to mingle with. We ended up after some debate and encounters with pubs packed with a crowd much older than us, we found our way to The Purple Turtle. An underground club which was recommended to us by previous Oxfordian CLU students. JACKPOT! Finally! People our age! I, in an attempt to get another drink, made myself a friend. His name was John, we danced and had a blast. I love dancing, honestly. Salsa, club, swing, I'm sure I'd enjoy waltz or ballroom if I ever tried it. Its just something that makes me smile.
I was out quite late, however, so that was unfortunate for the next morning which was our river punting day. It was the first beautiful day we had in a week. The sun was shining and all our drivers were pretty darn good at it!
After returning from lunch as a Chipotle impostor (same font and style of burrito set up), I went to the Oxford United football match with Dr Brint, Dr. Marichal (a Prof from CLU who is here on sabbatical and staying with Brint), Nate, Skyler, Evan, Kevin, Nicole, and Anna. It was fun but it would have been better if A- we won and B- I wasn't so tired! haha oh well, its to my own detriment!
It was overall a good weekend. And I'm excited and sad for my last week here. Next weekend we're supposed to have free to travel but I think I'll have my nose buried in my reading and finishing up my essays! We leave for London on the first!
