I had my last tutorials for both my oxford courses today. One parting was more sad than the other...
I had my tropical ecology tutorial at 10 and it was brilliant, as always. But at the end my professor, Clive Hambler, told me that I got the equivelent of an A and that I was a "primary student." He told me that if I were to be a regular student there I would probably do quite well and most likely be a primary student and as it were I was getting about a 70. This is big news. A 70 in oxford terms is very, very good. When I told Dr. Brint, he said that there wasn't a CLU student to get that level of recognition yet. I'm so proud of myself, I worked my butt off in that class and it clearly paid off.
The end of Rectifying International Injustice was... needed. I didn't really take to that class as readily as the other one and it was a lot of hypothetical situations for impossible goals. I don't really like that style of thinking. I'll use hypothetical situations as a means to an obtainable future goal, but hypothetical ways to hypothetical policies for an impossible world? Really? Whole professions are created around this? It was frustration for me. Oh well... I did learn a lot about policies and such so I guess that's good. :)
Today was all-in-all a very good day! This morning I got the advice to just "keep smiling." So I did. And it turned out to be an incredible day. I had that awesome tutorial and compliment from Clive, then I went shopping and bought a really fun coat and slippers and headband for super cheap. Then I found Green's Gluten Free beer, and had a jacket potato for lunch (a baked potato, essntially). End of other tutorial. Steak for dinner (they're very proud of their grass fed beef here!) and then a celebratory Jack and diet Coke. I'm topping off the blustery and misty English day with my GF beer (I'm actually not really a fan of it. Its the Premium Golden Ale flavor and I much prefer their dark ale, which I've had in the states before. )
But, in review. Its been a VERY good day. :)
Just Smile A Lot.
I'm so happy for you!!!!
